Our Choirs
Apprentice Choir (no evaluation required) – Dana Rouse, Director
Apprentice Choir is designed for children ages 5-8 with little or no previous musical experience. The singers will be begin to read some pitches and simple rhythms. Through the use of the Kodaly Method, the children are introduced to solfege (syllables used for vocal music) and are taught their relationship to the staff and the notes around them. The repertoire is drawn mainly from folk songs and singing games, giving the children a fun and safe environment to learn the basic skills necessary to move forward in the LRCC program. This class is for students with a desire to explore music and to work as a team. If a student is distracting others or talking excessively, a parent will be notified and asked to sit in on the class. If a student continues to be disruptive in class, they may not be allowed to participate at the discretion of the director. The singers rehearse for a 10-week session offered both in the fall and spring of each LRCC season. These rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:10.
THIS CHOIR CLASS WILL NOT BE OFFERED UNTIL SPRING 2022
